There are many prizes and awards available to win, including:
The Zsuzsi Roboz Prize: Awarded by The Alfred Teddy Smith and Zsuzsi Roboz Art Trust - £5,000
The Doreen McIntosh Prize: £5,000
The Haworth Prize: £4,000 prize for a northern English landscape or cityscape by a young artist (aged 35 years or under) from the North of England. Fuller details here.
The Dry Red Press Award: The winning work will be published as a greeting card in the Dry Red Press 'Prize Winners' range, with royalties from the sale of the cards going to the artist
The Winsor & Newton Award: Art materials to the value of £500, voted for by visitors to the exhibition.
NEW The Peter Ashley Framing Prize: Presented by The Artistic Framing Company: A bespoke handmade picture frame will be created for the winning artwork, to the value of £500
NEW The Woodhay Picture Gallery Prize for Drawing: £300
How to Submit
ALL work must be submitted online. Pre-selection from online entries will take place, after which successful artists will be invited to deliver their work to Mall Galleries, London, for final selection:
- Upload images of work at registrationmallgalleries.org.uk [Note: Images must be in JPEG format and under 1MB]
- Check registrationmallgalleries.org.uk to see if your work has been pre-selected
- If pre-selected, deliver your work to Mall Galleries, 17 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5BD
- Check mallgalleries.org.uk on to see if your work has been accepted to the exhibition
- If unaccepted, collect your work from Mall Galleries, 17 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5BD 10am - 5pm
Any artist over 18 may submit.
Acceptable media: Paintings, drawings, pastels, original framed prints (excluding photography). Sculpture is NOT admissible.
Submission fee: £15 per work (£10 per work for artists aged 35 or under)
Work must have been completed in the last two years and must not have been previously exhibited in London.
Maximum of six works submitted. Maximum of five works selected.
Works should not be larger than 2.4m along the longest dimension.
Paintings should be completely dry at the time of delivery.
Minimum price: £300 (£180 for framed prints, or £120 for unframed prints).
Artists who are not resident in the UK but are resident in the EU are welcome to submit work. If your work is sold at the exhibition you have a responsibility to register and account for UK VAT with H.M. Revenue & Customs. Artists submitting work from outside the UK and EU must be registered BEFORE they submit online. Artists without a UK residence (known as 'NETPs' - non-established taxable persons) can find further details on 'NETP' status and how to register for VAT at www.hmrc.gov.uk, (HM Revenue & Customs Reference: Notice 700/1, Mar 2014) under the heading 'Should I be registered for VAT?' Please note: the registration process can take up to 4 weeks. Artists sending work from abroad should use a picture carrier. Many artists use Picture Post as they offer a packing and delivery service for our exhibitions (we do not accept any liability for their services).
