The seashore and estuaries have long fascinated Andrew Stock. The constant ebb and flow of the tides create new and ever changing shoreline patterns of weed, flotsam and random detritus, while the sands are rhythmically sculpted and fresh pools of sea are left behind within the ancient rocks. The birdlife thrives; wildfowl dabble at the waters edge as waders busily delight on the rich pickings in the sand, mud and weed. The waders’ plaintive calls and piping chants rise above the background rumble of the breaking turquoise waves and in the distance a lonely fishing boat ploughs a silent furrow through a rolling ocean.

Andrew is spending much of the year exploring and painting the west coast, once again visiting the Sound of Harris in the Outer Hebrides, a challenging wilderness, both bleak and beautiful, rich in wildlife and largely untouched. In contrast he has also been working in North Cornwall, in particular the charming Camel Estuary and Rock, painting the stunning coastline, fishing boats and of course the captivating shorelines.

Approximately 50 oil paintings and watercolours will be on show.

Artist will be present in the gallery to discuss his work on the following days: 10, 11, 17 & 20 December
