The Threadneedle Space
The Threadneedle Space offers a new and contemporary exhibition space in the heart of central London. Purposely designed for solo and small group exhibitions, the gallery will provide a new and exciting space for contemporary figurative art.
This transformed gallery space greatly increases the scale of our provision to artists.
The bold design, conceived by Fletcher Priest Architects, involved stripping back the ceiling and wall panels to expose the original steel structures that supported the 19th century carriage house. By revealing the arched windows that open onto The Mall and installing roof lights, natural daylight now illuminates the space.
The entire project is a result of further generous funding from Threadneedle Investments, whose commitment towards the Mall Galleries and the work of this charity has already played a fundamental role in making The Threadneedle Prize one of the UK's most significant prizes for contemporary painting and sculpture. The Threadneedle Prize has increased to £30,000, making it the most valuable competition for a single work of art.
