An award of £250, open to members and non-members, for the best small painting on display (maximum dimension of 12 inches / 30.5 cm, excluding frame)
Exploring the themes of origins and belonging has been the main focus of this body of work while developing subtle complexities in my colour palette. The direct gaze of Tom and the warm reflected light and rich shadows adds a certain intimacy to the portrait.

An annual prize of £1,000, awarded for a painting of outstanding merit
Catching the tourists and workers after the rain has fallen. I wanted the painting to have a blurry wet look and the feeling that people were on their way to catch a train or meet friends in a bar after a downpour.
