Ben Eden believes that in art there is an abstract, two-dimensional beauty, as well as the beauty of realism. The artist tries to incorporate both into his work.
Ben Eden works in oils from life. His approach varies depending on the subject, but it often begins with colour. The artist feels it’s important to get the colour correct on an absolute level, as well as a relative one. He will apply the paint loosely before making adjustments and adding detail. Perishables are usually done wet into wet, while longer studies can have many layers.
Ben Eden (born 1994) is an oil painter trained within the realist tradition. He has studied at the London Atelier of Representational Art, and briefly at the Angel Academy of Art, Florence, Italy. However most of his development occurred in the period after he left school – self teaching and experimentation have proven very useful to him.
