David Wightman (born 1980 in Stockport, Greater Manchester, UK) is well-known for his intensely-coloured paintings and prints of fictional landscapes. His landscape prints are all based on initial sketches originally made for his paintings. Inspired by the tradition of landscape painting and printmaking - from Japanese wood-block prints to classical landscape paintings - his artwork depicts sublime and beautiful mountainscapes that are familiar yet fictional.
David Wightman studied Fine Art at Middlesex University (2001) and gained an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art, London (2003). He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions and has been commissioned by English Heritage and Arts Council England. His work has featured in Harper's Bazaar, The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Financial Times, and Money Week.
He lives and works in London and is represented by Long & Ryle.
