In her portraiture work Frances Bell paints from life, using the sight-size technique, over a few sittings. The artist is happy to travel to sittings but she does have a studio which can accommodate visitors for sittings also.
Bell also loves landscape and wildlife painting, having had a lifetime of living rurally to observe and immerse herself in the natural world. Bell is greatly inspired by the world's wilder spaces, as well as the interaction between animals that we farm and wild animals in our shared environment. The North of England provides so much to observe, and a great variety of texture and light, so Bell finds an abundance of subjects for her work.
