Drawing and a fascination with pattern and detail in both the natural and man made world form the basis of the work I produce, and I have a particular love of Moorish Architecture.
I frequently travel abroad to collect source material for the work I produce, and when possible I like to draw on site. I also take many photographs especially of details such as tiles and patterns on buildings.
On my return I use both photographs and drawings to create collages for compositions. These compositions are then transferred to either etching plates or used for watercolours and paintings. Many of the etchings I watercolour after they have been printed,- which is a time consuming process,- but which I feel shows the jewel like quality of the architecture I am interested in.
I work at home on drawings and paintings, and the etchings I produce at Artichoke Print Workshop in Brixton.
The final works are usually a result of an assembly of various images collected from different places and sources.
