I am a self taught painter & illustrator based in London. Although most of my commercial work are commission based portraits, I find painting parallel to emotional narrative. I work in a variety of mediums, from pencil, ink and watercolour to oils. When I think of art, I see a combination of intellect with aesthetics and emotion. I enjoy painting from observation and when it comes to portrait painting, I see it as crucial for creating an emotionally-charged work. I believe in the importance of art and it's influence on the world. I often take inspiration from literature and memories.
Born in 1991 in Lodz, Poland.
Paulina has always been interested in art. She first fell in love with modern art in her teenage years and as she developed her painting skills, she started appreciating academic painting and traditional means of expression much more. She tried two different art schools in Poland and Italy but decided to move on as they didn't offer what she was looking for at the time. Paulina did short courses at the Royal School of Drawing and London Atelier of Representational Arts.
In 2016 Paulina established About Face Illustration, which is the artist's commission-based portrait painting studio, and it has now become a full time job.
Paulina also enjoys analogue photography and alternative photographic processes, like cyanotype.
