About Robert King RSMA RI

Profile

Artist details

Method of Working

Robert King paints in oil, gouache, watercolour and pastel. His subjects of interest include marine, landscape, cityscape and figurative works of ‘The Nude’ and ‘Figures in Landscape’. All of his paintings are taken directly from life and not from photographs. Robert continues to find inspiration in Norfolk: its shorelines and beaches, the Solent, where he lives. Robert also finds inspiration in France and its town harbours and coastline, the Mediterranean and Egypt, Venice, Paris, Rome, Naples and recent visits to India.

Commissions

Commissions

Approach to Commissions:

Robert accepts a wide variety of commissions for marine, landscape, cityscape and figurative works in oil, gouache, watercolour or pastel. However, this excludes pastiche or historical paintings. Should a client request a copy of a painting, Robert is prepared to paint the same scene with similar lighting and atmosphere, but will alter the composition. Although Robert prefers to work from life, photographs may occasionally suffice as reference material. The commissions process will usually take around six months.

Notable Commissions:

Ten figurative and ten landscape commissions for Hong Kong University

Mall Galleries, The Mall, London SW1
