50 years ago today HM The Queen opened Mall Galleries as a brand new gallery
And it’s 60 years since the registered charity, the Federation of British Artists was formed.
It’s also been almost 1 year since the start of the COVID restrictions first closed the gallery to visitors.
We need your help to continue supporting artists
The FBA (Federation of British Artists) was formed in 1961 when a group of national Art Societies joined together to offer each other mutual support in exhibiting their members’ works.
Today Mall Galleries is the national focal point for contemporary figurative art, and supports the 500 member artists of the 9 Art Societies that make up the FBA. We also show the work of around another 5,000 artists each year.
We receive no on-going public funding. With the doors of the gallery closed, we have lost a large source of income that we usually obtain from gallery rental. Corporate events in the evenings helped to fund our Exhibitions and Events.
