Inspired by the model of our Art Societies, we have been running the In the Studio programme with an aim to equip young talent with the tools, ideas and experiences to form their own collaborative art group.
With the idea of the artist’s studio as our starting point, we have invited artists between the ages of 18 to 26 to explore diverse areas of the Federation of British Artists and Mall Galleries. From artists’ indoor studios and galleries to outdoor locations and intangible spaces inspiring artistic practices. In the Studio artists have been considering the ways that the spaces they navigate, the institutions they collaborate with and the people they meet along the way, all help shape their practice.
An In the Studio exhibition will take place at Mall Galleries is August 2019, with the group sharing their own approaches on being an artist today.
The In the Studio programme will continue after the exhibition, through offering the group further professional development and mentoring opportunities and also by inviting new artists to join them.
As you know, we are an independent arts education charity, which means we don't receive any funding from the government. We rely on our supporters' generosity in order to offer these initiatives free to young audiences. Your contribution will go a huge way to help us do that. And because it’s a donation, you can Gift Aid it.
