With the idea of the artist’s studio as our starting point, we have invited young talent to explore diverse areas of the Federation of British Artists and Mall Galleries. From artists’ indoor studios and gallery spaces to outdoor locations and intangible spaces inspiring artistic practices.
Participants will discover and share their own approaches on ‘being an artist’ today. They will consider the ways that the spaces they navigate, the institutions they collaborate with and the people they meet along the way, all help shape their practice. Through meeting and working with other artists at different stages of their career, they will support each other and promote dialogue and collaboration.
Moreover, In the Studio will allow existing Federation and Mall Galleries artists to share their stories of how they have developed professionally and creatively throughout the years in order to educate and inspire emerging talent.
As a group, participants will collaborate on projects, design their own public events, and create a group exhibition to be held at Mall Galleries. To help them do this, they’ll receive creative input and mentoring from members of the Federation of British Artists, the Mall Galleries’ team, as well as creative professionals artists working in different disciplines.
