Drawing Session: The Picnic
We'll be inspired by Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year exhibition for this Drawing Session and will gather around a picnic basket overflowing with foods suitable for a meal outdoors.
Alfresco dining has been a favourite subject of artists for centuries and has been used by artists such as Manet, Monet, Titian and Rubens to show the innocent pleasures of a peaceful sunny day with friends, to allude to licentiousness and decadence as well as to make important points about inequalities in gender and class. What will you use your drawing of a picnic to say about the world around you?
Our Drawing Sessions, formerly known as Coffee Mornings, are a great chance to do some sketching, whether you are a seasoned artist or a first timer. Bring along your sketchbook and pencils, if you don't have any there are free drawing materials generously provided by Winsor & Newton.
If you don't fancy picking up a pencil, these events are perfect for those of you who love popping in to have an informal chat about art with other visitors and members of the Mall Galleries team.
Come along between 2pm and 4pm, get a hot drink and a pastry from the Cafe.
