In this open discussion, Aindrea Emelife, Tim Ralston and Ella Walker will discuss their experiences with artist residency programmes, and their importance in the careers of emerging artists. With Ella having undertaken many residencies within the UK and overseas, Aindrea representing PLOP residency, and Tim representing PADA residency in Portugal respectively, these three will provide a unique insight into how to find and take part in the programme that is right for you. About the Speakers
Ella Walker is London-based painter and a recent graduate of the Royal Drawing School’s postgraduate program (2018). She has undertaken a wide range of residency programmes including at the Prado Museum, Spain, the Great Women Artists X Palazzo Monti residency, Italy, and The Dumfries House Residency, Scotland.
Aindrea Emelife is an art critic, independent curator, and co-founder of PLOP, a London based residency in central London where artists are invited to produce work in the heart of Soho, culminating in a group exhibition. In 2018, Aindrea launched her private art advisory, working primarily with emerging artists and private art collections internationally.
Tim Ralston is the co-founder of PADA residency in Lisbon, Portugal. Set in a derelict industrial park with history dating back to 1885, PADA residency offers artists a unique opportunity to develop their practice through the exploration of technique and process. Tim has worked for a wide range of art institutions and galleries such as the BFI, ICA, Tate and Hauser and Wirth.
