Watch member of The Pastel Society, Tom Walker, experiment with the versatility of pastels as he engages with numerous techniques layered over and within an entirely freely improvised session.

Tom says about the experiment, which he will pre-record: “I don't know what will appear any more than those watching the sequence of superimposed images unfolding during between 30 and 40 minutes maximum, which, after a brief introduction, I will talk through ad lib as it progresses”.

The main emphasis of the video, titled Secrets of the Dust, is to show what pastels can do in any genre or context, without a defined or premeditated intention beyond showcasing techniques.
