Curator Vanessa Murrell , artist Oli Epp and collector Jon Sharples discuss the good, bad, funny, outrageous and downright inspiring studio visits they have experienced from their respective professional perspectives. This discussion will provide invaluable insight into one of the oldest and most traditional ways artists promote their work.
In this panel discussion, Vanessa Murrell, Jon Sharples and Oli Epp will discuss their experiences of Studio visits. As a curator, collector and artist respectively, they will recount and discuss both good and bad experiences they have had during studio visits, as well as how their varying roles within the art world shape their approaches to them. Aimed at emerging artists and curators as well as new collectors, this discussion will provide invaluable insight into one of the oldest and most traditional ways artists promote their work and how to make the most of them.
About the Speakers
Vanessa Murrel is a curator, writer and co-founder of DATEAGLE ART, a London based platform that supports UK-based emerging artists in the form of interviews, studio visits, blog content and both online and offline exhibition curation - most recently “Full English” at Platform Southwark.
Jon Sharples is an art and intellectual property lawyer, broadcaster and curator. Between 2013 to 2019, he was the Chair of the Simmons & Simmons Art Network and was responsible for the firm's prominent collection of contemporary art displayed across 15 countries. Jon is on the boards of Block 336 and the Liverpool Biennial.
Oli Epp’s paintings present an exaggerated reflection on human interaction in the post-digital age. Since graduating in 2017, his meteoric rise has seen him exhibit at a diverse range of spaces in the Uk and overseas - most recently in “Karma” with Roxanne Jackson at Duve Gallery in Berlin.
