Bryan Senior, born in Bolton in 1935, has, since his teens, remained a committed representational artist.

Senior believes that the visible world is all that we can honestly relate to, and the figurative image still has something significant to offer.

This retrospective, his 41st solo show, includes many of the paintings of people which have been central to his work since 1980. Though his subjects are of the everyday, Senior aims to imbue them with a sense of timelessness and monumentality.
