The Derwent Art Prize was conceived in 2012 and aims to reward excellence by showcasing the very best artworks created in pencil by British and International artists.
The 80 works on show in the 2016 prize have been judged by a distinguished panel of selectors: Meryl Ainslie, Director and Founder of Rabley Drawing Centre; Eileen Cooper RA, Painter and Printmaker, and Keeper of the Royal Academy Schools, and Michael Glover, art critic at The Independent and London correspondent for ARTNews, New York.

A free life drawing workshop with materials provided by Derwent Pencils and led by Derwent Art Prize 2016 exhibitor, Tim Wright. Tim Wright is a celebrated figure painter and tutored Timothy Spall in painting for two years, in preparation for his role as JMW Turner in the film Mr Turner .
