Artwork materials:
Oil & mixed media
Artwork size:
135 x 80 cm

"I travel Europe and collect objects as relics from the past and visions of the future. In the tradition of the artists of the Modern period, I am seeking a utopic vision for the 21st century. I paint fairy tales, stories, graphic art on MDF and canvas. Pop culture influences play as much a part in my work as does high brow art.

Through popular topics, spiritual influences, classical myths, religious credos and everyday myths I find my own visual language. Being from Central Asia, but exposed to European ideals, I find my own way of uniting the orient and occident."

- Darja Abdirova, Gray's School of Art
