This rug wall hanging has been made through a process called hand-machine tufting. A wool and acrylic blend of yarn has been used for the main textile. The work explores the distortion of figure and how visual imagery can become immersive and interactive.
This work has been made in the Scandinavian rug-making style of Ryijy. My Finnish grandmother would make these rugs by hand, it was after witnessing her work that I found the inspiration to create my own.
