Used as an illustration for John McEwen's Bird of The Month column, in 'The Oldie' magazine, about Kittiwakes nesting on buildings in Newcastle upon Tyne. These structures represent cliff ledges for the birds and brings them surprisingly far inland for a seabird. Famous for the bridges over the Tyne, one of the buildings depicted on the Gateshead side is the Baltic Gallery which has some of the most favoured sites for the nesting birds.
The screenprint or serigraph is made of very limited layers of colour, the ink being laid through a cut-paper stencil that protects areas to be left untouched. This means preliminary planning and design are an important part of the process.
