I'm very interested in the concept of what it means to paint what is around me, in this case the tresle table and large TV I use as a computer monitor. Since the pandemic started I've been working at home and so there is still as sense of disorder in the spare room studio.
The purpose of the painting was supposed to be a tonal study where I just wanted to use the view straight in front of my easel as a starting point to explore form in a more abstract way. However I became engrossed in the complexity of the subject matter and I couldn't resist applying colour.
I was listening to a BBC "working from home" music selection at the time which disarmed my objective painting intentions.
