Description
These boats are within the boat shelter area of the village harbour. Over lockdown when I couldn't work, I spent hours in this space, observing the changing tides and the effects this had on the tethered boats' positions and the way changing light shifted their shadows. I am interested in our desire to leave land and the ways we find to do this. Boats are a means of untethering ourselves from the land and heading out into an alternative reality. Lockdown also made me reflect on different kinds of confined spaces. Villagers and fishermen built this one as a shelter or holding space for moored boats. The vessels seem to be waiting for the time to be released into the open estuary and sea.
