Painted on the spot over several sessions when the weather conditions were right - heavy cloud, cold wind from the west, mid-tide. Near the north bank of the River Tees with industry and cranes of the south shore in the distance. Acrylic was a helpful material since the areas of the painting which had dried resisted occasional rain. Some windblown sand became part of the paint surface. An elderly man came up and told me he'd built the shelter with the help of his grandson.
