"A stretch of art history that’s been really influential for me both stylistically and in terms of subject matter has been the Medieval period. I find mythical and religious iconography really engaging; religion has always used art to propagate itself and as a result certain visual cues become synonymous with worship. My goal is to take these motifs that make something an object of worship and transpose them onto things that I want to place on this pedestal, in a way that is very separate from religion. My work is based around a visual vocabulary, like a pictographic language that can be combined and recombined, giving the appearance of a story that makes no sense."
