Words Made Beautiful will celebrate an impressive milestone for The Society of Scribes & Illuminators. Founded in 1921, the Society has actively and enthusiastically championed the art of calligraphy for one hundred years.
Using the exhibition title as their inspiration and showcasing a variety of media and techniques, including gold leaf illumination, our centenary celebrations will bring together a display of contemporary works that will reveal the breadth and diversity of calligraphy and lettering as a modern art form. A number of seminal historical works by Fellows of the Society will accompany the newer pieces.
