A recurring element and something that attracted me throughout my career has been working "centre jour", representing still lifes, interiors, portraits against the light. Light has been my main inspiration. The Greek Islands with their intense white light and the abstract shapes of tumbling houses, steps, rooftops and brilliant blue skies have been my main source of subject and excitement for many years. Also Spain, Italy, Portugal and Morocco have yielded material for many paintings exploring the light and colours of those countries.
I paint mainly in my studio, landscapes, houses, streets etc from drawings & sketches done on the spot. My materials are oil paints on canvas or board. I also do charcoal drawings of my surroundings interiors and my garden. I do many charcoal drawings from the nude.
