Light has always facinated Margaret. A landscape transformed by the sunsire or light reflected on water inspire her to paint. In her work she wants to point to god the creator, and for people to stop ad wonder at the beauty all around us.
Margaret works in both pastels and oils. Her pastel technique is the same as the oil painting process, working from dark to light. She paints on abrasive paper that enables me to build up layers of pastel without overloading the tooth of the paper. She sees this as a painting medium rather than a drawing medium that uses line with colour. In her oils she rarely uses any medium, working thin to thick and painting wet on wet. She works from life or from photographs as our weather is so unpredictable! She tends not to sketch first but work immediately on the painting, solving problems as she goes.
