John Lines' mission is simply to paint through honest eyes.
John works mainly in oils, and to a smaller extent in watercolour. He prefers to paint ‘on the spot’ but also produces large studio work every so often. John uses all the tools a traditional painter uses, and keep it as simple as possible so as to work as fast as possible when outside. He does no sketching but dives straight in with paint to work towards a finish as soon as possible. John does just a few commissions a year as he feels they restrict your emotions a little.

John welcomes commissions and likes to receive a lot of information from his client. The artist will carry out a brief using his own creative interpretation, but will always be led by the client. John's preferred subjects are merchant ship areas, coastal scenes and deep sea. The artist enjoys working on location but is also happy to refer to client photographs. Pieces are generally completed within a month, but of course there are exceptions where larger sizes or greater complexity is needed.
