About Peter Clossick NEAC

Profile

Artist details

Artist's Statement

Refreshingly, Peter Clossick is not one of those many contemporary artists who have been seduced by fashion and are eager for accolades. "My concern is for an aesthetic language", he says, "not thinking about ownership of the idea but recycling and giving back. Nothing I have done is new for the sake of being new". For him, the value of painting is essentially about self-development: "My aim is to learn something, make some progress and understand more about my practise".

Oliver Lange, Artist Magazine 2010

Method of Working

The former London Group president is a man seemingly in love with paint as both a substance and a subject. So oils are generously applied in a series of confident, purposeful strokes. Similarly, the colours are drawn from all corners of his palette, yet appear to sing in harmony and discord with one another across the course of the canvas."

Steve Pill, editor Artist & Illustrator 2016
