Vacant Spaces
300 Days of Pandemic Travel showcases images of popular tourist destinations and bustling historic sites rendered into vacant spaces as a result of the restrictions imposed by the global COVID 19 pandemic. This unique moment in collective recent history, captured by photographer Yu Lap Tang, documents his experience wandering across Europe with his camera. His images reveal how the virus silently transformed typically busy locations into sparsely-visited spots, populated typically by hurried passers-by.
While these photos harken back to a time of great struggle and sacrifice for most of us, these striking images of famous summits, urban metropolises, and glittering snow-capped mountains allude to a shared desire for hope.
Yu Lap Tang is an entrepreneur, financier, collector, and author. In 1990, he founded the Hantec Group, a multinational conglomerate which provides professional financial services to global markets. Mr. Tang’s creative pursuits have allowed him to visit nearly 150 countries, published 19 books and hold over 30 photographic exhibitions worldwide.
"These images will forever capture a unique moment in time."
