Founded in 2001 and inspired by a collection of people who, despite never having met, shared a passion for the art of colour pencil.

The dawn of the new millennium was marked with a momentous event, the creation of the UK Colour Pencil Society!

The mission was simple: to inspire and inform, to demonstrate to the art appreciating public that colour pencils were a wonderful medium, and in skilled hands every bit as capable of producing breath-taking artwork in a range of styles as other mediums.

With those goals firmly in mind, the UK Colour Pencil Society (UKCPS) has grown considerably over the years, helping many artists blossom and progress along their creative paths. In 2018, the UKCPS became a Registered Charity, to allow them to further promote the art of drawing for the public benefit using colour pencil.

Call for Entries

Artists are invited to submit work for the UKCPS Silver Exhibition. Entry open to all, subject to terms and conditions. Entries open until Sunday 25 January 2026.

Educating in their chosen medium and promoting the appreciation of the arts to all, the UKCPS are a welcoming home for creatives who share a passion for producing the very finest art with the most accessible of media, colour pencils.

And so it is with great pleasure that the society invites you to join them at the UKCPS Silver Exhibition, celebrating 25 years of the beauty of colour pencil. This juried event, their celebratory Silver Exhibition, showcases beautiful artwork from all corners of the country and beyond, so do join in with celebrating the joy of creating with colour pencil.

Sitting on my grandfather's knee whilst he drew magical pictures is one of my earliest memories. He encouraged me to draw.
