Brian Ryder ROI (1944 - 2025)

Statement

For Brian painting is about trying to recreate atmosphere within the landscape. He believes that the sun and light is the main factor which reflects his love of the works of J.M.W. Turner.

In his own words:

I try to paint with shapes placed into a composition maintaining my feel of just that fleeting glimpse around me with the hope of catching the feeling I saw at the time.

I normally paint in close tones but have diversified recently after catching fleeting glances of the reflections in the waters of Venice.

I succeed in my work when the viewer makes the picture... not me.
