Having been inspired by the Naturalist movement in 19th Century European art, Keith Richens tries to create striking images sometimes with a narrative sub-text which hopefully fascinate and remain with the viewer.
Methodology
Keith paints mainly in oil or watercolour, preferring to work in a studio using reference photographs he has taken along with notes and sketches made on location. Sometimes he uses video to capture an atmosphere or a movement which can be interpreted and incorporated into his paintings. Keith also uses a computer as an aid to compositional, colour and tonal decisions.
