Nichola-Rae Bevers

Nichola-Rae Bevers born in Grimsby in 1971 is a portrait painter based in London. Nichola-Rae focuses on quiet, honest moments. Equally happy with a brush and oil or graphite stick she works quickly layering and removing, sensitively allowing the portrait to emerge overtime. Building the portrait from sittings, photographs and conversations with the sitter, her practice is concerned with expressions and snapshots of memories and how that changes the facial anatomy, "the physical revealing what sometimes cannot be said". Nichola-Rae's portraits have always been bought privately and having recently retired from a rewarding career in education in 2025 has decided to show publicly and dedicated herself to portraiture full time.
