Geoffrey Chatten RBA
Methodology
The personal nature of his paintings capture the essence, feeling and atmosphere of his chosen subject. As well as landscape and seascapes Geoffrey also produces still life works, specifically flowers such as bluebells, iris, tulips and daffodils. Geoffrey has a wonderful collection of vases to use in his paintings that complement the flowers he chooses to paint. Geoffrey lives for his paintings and when he begins a painting it takes him over completely until it is complete.
Bio
Chatten was born in Norfolk in 1938, and started painting with oils in the 1960s. By the 1980s, Chatten was working at a professional level. With no formal painting instruction, he developed a unique impressionistic technique within his studio, which is now packed with scores of sketchbooks. While he produces oil paintings of the UK, particularly the landscapes and seascapes of Norfolk and Suffolk, every piece starts with a preliminary series of sketches.
Geoffrey became a full member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1995.
