Charlotte Sorapure RP NEAC
Trained at Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Art and Technology, and then The Royal Academy of Arts in London for Post-Graduate studies, Charlotte is a figurative artist living and working in Bath. Over the years she has had solo exhibitions with Messum’s in London, and Brian Sinfield Gallery in Burford as well as The Quest Gallery and the Victoria art Gallery, both in Bath. As a consequence of winning the Holburne Museum Portrait prize in 2012, she was commissioned to paint a portrait of the war photographer, Don McCullin for the Museum’s collection.
'At the heart of everything is drawing – the best means of exploring the nature of visual relationships with their underlying patterns and structures. I strive for strong compositional impact, yet also try to imbue the paintings with subtlety, nuance and atmosphere. Organised colour and tonal themes help to marry the subject matter, ranging from observed portraits, still lives and landscapes to more imaginative threads and ideas.'
