The domestic spaces I paint are not literal recreations, but emotional reconstructions of home, silence, and reflection.
In the artist's words:
My work centres on painting as a way of exploring and reconstructing memory. I often begin with quick drawings or sketches, where I attempt to strip memories down to their most essential visual and emotional components. These fragments - sometimes sparked by an everyday object like a fan or a curtain - become anchors to broader, layered recollections.
The Crinan Residency offers an exciting opportunity to step away from my usual environment and immerse myself in a place that feels both unfamiliar and inspiring. After spending the past three years working intensively in the same studio space at Leeds Arts University, I feel ready to break out of routine and let a new setting inform and challenge my work.
