The Society of Women Artists (SWA) will be presenting a stunning collection of original works, from some of the finest women artists working today from the UK and beyond, at Mall Galleries, June 23 – 27.
Many renowned artists with diverse interests will be exhibiting; you will be able to browse 450 works, from members and non-members, including: oil paintings, watercolours, drawings, etchings, lithographs, screen prints, sculpture, ceramics, portraiture, landscapes, and a rich balance of abstract and figurative, traditional and quirky.
This is a fabulous opportunity to view work of artists who regularly exhibit at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, ING Discerning Eye, Royal Watercolour Society, Royal West of England Academy, Royal Society of Sculptors, New English Art Club, Royal Scottish Academy, and Royal Ulster Academy, to name but a few.
The SWA continues to promote women artists and prides itself on the very diverse nature of the work shown during our Annual Open Exhibition from both our non-members and our members.
The exhibition will, as always, raise money for the SWA’s charitable partners and the Society welcomes guests to a special preview evening on Tuesday 23rd June 6pm - 8.30pm. This special Event will be celebrating and raising money for the SWA’s Young Artists’ Initiative fund. Please see the SWA Website for ticket information.
The SWA is a very historic and important society. It was founded in 1855 by courageous and talented women who were unable to exhibit in the male-dominated culture they were born into. Every generation of women since has taken the baton and run with it with an energy and determination that comes through in their vibrant and eclectic work today.
