On behalf of the President and Council of the Royal Society of British Artists, congratulations to the award winning artists at the RBA Annual Exhibition 2026:

The Huaicun Zhang Award for Excellence 2026

An award of £10,000 will be offered for a work (or works) of exceptional quality. The selection committee reserves the right to split the award as deemed appropriate for works in the exhibition.

Winner of £8000: Sue Campion RBA, Hills near Competa, Andalucia

and

Winner of £2000: Katie Kaur, A Place that Knows Shame

The de Laszlo Foundation Award

£2,000 awarded to an arists aged 35 or under for the best work from life, plus four Highly Commended awards of £300 each.

Winner: George Rigby, In the Midst

Highly Commended: Dylan Andrews, Still

Highly Commended: Shirley Chi, Nude, Shadow, Shape

Highly Commended: Rufus Martin, Rory

Highly Commended: Christopher Perry, Sharp

The Michael Harding Awards

Two prizes of £500 worth of art materials. 

Winner: Jill Eisele, Passing Storm.

Winner: Lewis Hazelwood-Horner RBA, Golding.

The Daler-Rowney Award

£500 of art materials from Daler-Rowney for an outstanding work.

Winner: Anna Thomas, Outstretched by Pots

The John Lynn Commemorative Award for a Young Artist

£500 awarded to a Young Artist. 

Winner: Anastasia Olarou, Peace

Ronald Benham Memorial Award

An annual memorial prize of £500 in the name of Ronald Benham RBA NEAC, to be awarded to an artist for work painted in a traditional manner in celebration of the natural world.

Winner: Annie Boisseau RBA, for the body of work exhibited at the RBA 2026.  

The Surgeon's Prize

An award of £500.

Winner: Christopher Perry, Sharp

The Winsor & Newton Award

Art materials to the value of £500 for an outstanding painting. 

Winner: Ian Wieckzorek, Crossing #8

The MONTOOLI Award

A prize of £300 for an outstanding portrait painting in the exhibition. The name of the award is derived from a Bengali word which means, 'a paintbrush from the creative heart.'

Winner: Andy Sylvester, Head Study

The Peter Kelly Commemorative Prize 

The Gordon Hulson Memorial Prize

£250 for draughtsmanship, variety and exploration.

Winner: Iona Townsend, Gaze

The Ronald Morgan Memorial Award

An award of £250. 

Winner: James Crittenden PS, Morning Shadows

The Stuart Southall Print Prize

An award of £250. 

Winner: James Crittenden PS, Morning Shadows

Frinton Frames Award

£200 of picture framing at Frinton Frames. 

Winner: Christopher Aggs RBA, Bricks and Irises.

The President's Award

Ten free submissions to exhibitions by the Federation of British Artists at Mall Galleries for a non-member exhibitor. 

Winner: Skye Holland, The Beginning and End of Something

Nathan David Award for Sculpture

An award of £150. 

Winner: Arabella Brooke, Precipice.

The Geoffrey Vivis Memorial Award

An award of £100. 

Winner: Nigel Fletcher, Next to the Easel.

Painters Online Award

The winner will be featured in The Artist magazine. Sponsored by Painters Online, the home of Leisure Painter and The Artist. 

Winner: Barbara Robjant, Near Forsinard Flows, NC500

The Dry Red Press Award

The winning work will be published as a greetings card.

Winner: Marion Eastwood, Cottage Garden.
